Paka

Paka approached Bonie to become the VP of Product because of her expertise and track record designing award-winning wool apparel for the outdoor industry. The goal was to create innovative apparel that aligned with an outdoor lifestyle. Leaning into her knowledge of the outdoor industry, she identified new whitespace opportunities for the brand designing and developing for new categories, including underwear, socks, thermals, sun hoodies, lightweight sweaters, t-shirts, beanies, and outerwear. One of her biggest accomplishments was the overhaul of their Pakafill collection. Paka wanted to elevate the placement of the indigenous Peruvian weavings that are added to most of their products. Knowing that lighterweight puffers outperform parkas in sales, she added a lightweight puffer. She then used her expertise as a mountain athlete to add the technical features needed for any outdoor adventure jacket. The end products for Paka won an ISPO innovation award and were reviewed as one of the top performing jackets on the market. While at Paka, Bonie developed the product roadmap and led design, textile development, apparel technical development, fit standards and calendars. Her end products and roadmap continue to inform their steady expansion into new markets and broader distribution channels.
